Cancun Nightclubs
The nightclubs in Cancun can definately get crazy. There are a few large clubs in Cancun and a few smaller bars. I will concentrate on the larger clubs as they are more popular. Most clubs charge an enterance fee that comes with all-you-can-drink bracelets. The bracelets are good for all the booze you can consume, but be warned that service is painfully slow, unless some money is tipped. Spending 30 minutes to get a drink was not my idea of a good night. To aviod this I would either look for an efficient bartender, introduce myself, and tip him on the first round ($10 USD was usually good) or I would do the same with a waitress. The level of service after some money was tipped was night and day and a good investment.
I had great times at all of the major nightclubs in Cancun's hotel zone. I will rank them and provide some info.
5. Glazz
-In the area of La Isla Mall. This is one of the newer clubs and is nice inside. It is dressier than the other clubs that are more suited to the anything goes, shorts and t-shirt crowd.
4. Bulldog Cafe
-I found this place to be busy and a great party atmosphere. They were open late and the party never seemed to end. I did not like the tables in the middle of the dance floor area.
3. Dady'Os
-I spent the most time at the Dady complex and became friends with the staff, what a great group. The Dady complex consists of 5 seperate clubs.
The first and most well known is the Dady'O club, which is built to resemble a cave. The music and crowd are all over the map, but a good time for all. Special events would have to be the bikini contest held every Thursday. This club also brings in many high end DJ's especially come Spring Break time.
The next is Dady Rock, which features live rock performances, loud music, and hard body contests.
The Dady complex also boasts Cancun's most high-end establishment: O Ultra lounge and terrace. This exclusive lounge features premium alcohol, bottle service, and the best terrace to view Cancun from.
The other locations are the Terrasta and the XXbar. Terrasta as you could probably tell is modelled after a Rasta theme, where people like to chill and listen to some reggae. XX bar is the latest addition and is definately a place where it can get crazy.
2. Coco Bongo
Coco Bongo could have been my top pick, but was narrowly edged out. This club is a guananteed good time with the best entertainment and shows in Cancun. The club is always packed and has a great atmosphere. A warning to people that are claustraphobic, you might want to dance on the higher balconies because if you are on the main floor, you could feel over-whelmed. Due to its popularity, getting drinks can be a hassle, so be prepared to either pay or wait. I have had countless great nights here and if you're lucky, you might be pulled on stange to dance with the performers.
1. The City
I was living in Cancun when the City was first built. It is located next to Coco Bongo and across the street from the Dady complex. This club is absolutely massive and when it first opened it was quite empty and received little fanfare. This all changed during the spring break of 2004, when 50 Cent and the Black Eyed Peas performed at The City. I went to the concerts and they were crazy. The fanfare increased dramatically and it cintinues to be Cancun's busiest nightclub. The City is an impressive venue with its size and unbelievable sound system. This venue makes for a guaranteed great night out and my number 1 pick for Cancun nightclubs.

Cancun Background Information
The city of Cancun is young, as are most of its permanent and temporary inhabitants. 35 years ago it was a small sand barrier and fishing village when the government decided to develop it into the tourism and vacation haven that it is today. Cancun is a medium-sized coastal city and a long, thin island connected to brdges on the north and south end. It features many world-class resorts, hotels, nightclubs, and malls. It appeals to a variety of travelers as it ranges from all-day fun party beaches to isolated, tranquil islands and everything in between. This range is what makes it so appealing and has resulted in it being Mexico's most popular resort paradise.
